is terrible.. simply put. I have been in the mortgage business for over 20 years and have never come across any company that finds reasons like Provident to condition your lock out of date and deny loans. Save yourself the hassle and place the loan with another lender.
Misconception: All mortgage servicers are required to participate in the Home Affordable Refinance program.
The reality: Mortgage companies don't have to participate. One holdout is Provident Funding. The Burlingame, Calif., lender was the eighth-largest mortgage originator in the first quarter of 2009, according to National Mortgage News.
Provident Funding sucks! I have been with them for two years. I had trouble with my bill pay and that made my payemnt late and they would not waive the fee. Any other company would do that as a one time courtesy especially since I have never been late. Now I am having trouble with my mortgage. I am trying to do a loan modification. I turned in the paperwork and they never answer or call back! I hate this company so much. I have dealt with Wells Fargo and Chase and they treat their customers so much better with respect! Please do not go to Provident Funding even if it is your last choose!
WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration will crack down on mortgage companies that are failing to do enough to help borrowers at risk of foreclosure. The Treasury Department said Monday it will withhold payments from mortgage companies that aren't doing enough to make the changes permanent. Officials will monitor the largest of the 71 participating mortgage companies via daily progress reports. In an effort to shame the companies into doing a better job, Treasury will publish a list in December of the mortgage companies, also known as servicers, that are lagging.

Provident Funding has turned out to be the most incompetent, deceitful and arrogant mortgage lender that I have ever dealt with.
For the past two years Provident Funding has missed paying my flood insurance premiums on time even though they took the money from my escrow account and notified me that they had paid each time. This year they went a step further. They took the money ($545) from escrow in December, 2008, notified me that they paid the bill but they never sent the check. They finally sent it in February, 2009 and after finally sending it, took out a "forced" flood insurance policy and are charging me an unconscionable $4, 380 for the "forced" policy. I have written to them, faxed them, phoned them and emailed them, but they refuse to acknowledge that it's their problem and I should not be charged. They could care less.
Do yourself a favor and don't get involved with this company. The effort and frustration in dealing with them is not worth it.

Provident could give a rats Azz about Brokers. But some Brokers like getting slapped around by 18 year minimum wage nitwits. Challenge............call 813.637.9333 and see what happens?? The VM kicks in, and says " dont bother us with your Broker BS as were busy F'in Off. Leave a number, and maybe we will call you back ". Oh yea, the Company is also run by a couple of trust fund Juvenile delinquent Brothers. Daddy set them back in the Mid-90's, and they are a couple A-holes. Ahhh haha on anyone sending biz to those foul, sucking, stealing leeches. PROVIDENT FUNDING SUCKS. You help your profession (which is ending no matter what you do) to end a lot faster by feeding thos retailing parasites staffed with an unendingly replaced bunch of teenage trainees. The UW crew they had when Portland had a wholesale office was the greatest bunch of people. When they canned em and moved everything to the bay area, they became an abortion. Last month I almost cried when I left the business. Now Im so glad to be out. To not have to deal with the new gfe/disclosure/fed licensing is an enormous weight lifted. Its an example of our (hack hack cough) government at its finest. Total chaos. Ignorant , sellout sub humanoids who have been corrupted by power and screw over the citizens.

It was The Greed of Mortgage Lenders and Banks that caused The Collapse of America's Economy. They all knew it would happen, yet they continued to fill their pockets as fast as they could. Look at Craig Pica, owner of Provident Funding. He made enough to go buy Colorado Federal Savings Bank at $44 million. All those bogus legal fee's from stampeding forclosures, forced insurance and late fee rip off's sure paid off for you didn't they? They caused The Destruction of American Families and then asked for bailout money. We The People say "Screw Them! Let them fold and see how it feels." NO MORE BAILOUT MONEY! Do we pay the criminals in prison? No! These lenders are no different than the Murderer in for life. How many Americans have taken their own lives because of the stress of losing their home, belongings, businesses and family? All due to the Greed of these lenders. They should be prosecuted for their Crimes Against Americans. It starts with one person to have the balls to stand up and say, "Enough" and The Revolution Will Begin.
